"A" was eating ham for dinner and I looked over at him and he had a piece of ham held up to his ear. He proceeded to inform me,
"Mom, I'm talking on my ham to Jor Jor"
I remember having a banana phone as a child, but never a ham. :-) I guess he is a ham radio operator.

Avery got a pre-record-able book from Grammy. The other day we were listening to Grammy read the story. All of a sudden, he got a big smile on his face and said "Bebe in there, Mom, Bebe in there!" For Christmas, he also got one from his Nana and he was excited to hear "Nana, in there."

The other day, he conversationally said "Hi babe, yeah babe"... and proceeded to call me babe for a good part of the afternoon.

So here's another cute "A" story.
We were in the car on the way home from the doctors, when Avery said, "Daddy come home in a little bit?"
See, whenever we get home at night and daddy's not home, I always say that daddy will be home in a little bit.
So then I started to explain to him that daddy was coming in Thursday. "Today is Tuesday and we have to go sleep-sleeps then when we wake up, we play all day and then go sleeps-sleeps again and then it will be Thursday. Daddy comes home. You could see the wheels turning and he looks at me says "Go sleep-sleeps now?"
This little guy who hates sleep time was willing to go to sleep just so he could see his daddy again soon.
So hurry home Daddy. Little guy is waiting for you. :-)

Airplane NOW!
So the CUTEST thing happened. Daddy is on a short survey trip to the Bahamas and here is what happened...
I was giving a friend a violin lesson and "A" was playing with his toys downstairs. The next thing I know I heard him dragging something up the stairs. He pulls some luggage (that he found left out in the garage) all the way up to the main room.
I asked him. "Where are you going with that?"
And he announces. "Go with daddy, airplane now."
Avery figured that once he had a suitcase, I would take him to the airport so he could ride an airplane with daddy.
He was pretty insistent until I told him I was in the middle of the lesson and couldn't drive him to the airport right then. He brought it up a couple times, but I was finally able to distract him and put the luggage away. He misses his daddy and was figuring a way to get to him. HOW SWEET!

Ank-oo for...
Big brother is super insistent about praying before eating, whether it be a a snack or a meal. "Pray first" he insists. It's super cute and I never want to damper his spirit of prayer. I also allow him to say what he is thankful for. It usually starts with him saying "Fad-der" (Father) then I remind him to say "Thank you" and he goes on to say what he is thankful for. It always includes food but usually includes daddy, baby, mommy, and so on. He adds random things like "the light" or "dodo." I let him thank away and then he closes with "Amen."
So I never know what to expect. We were in the car eating bite while daddy was in a store buying something for our teen room. Avery insisted we pray (even though it was a small snack).
Here is how it went...
"Fadder, ank-oo food, ...daddy (pointing to store) ...fart (pointing to his bottom)
"Avery, fart?"
"Yeah, fart, fart momma, fart."
Well, at least he has a grateful spirit. Definitely saving this story. :-)

August 17, 2014 - Sweet Boy
My sweet sweet boy. I just love this kid! So we are learning baby sign language and we were practicing different signs like play, daddy, mommy, ball and so on. When I got to hug, I said "can you sign hug" and instead he tackled me with a big hug and said "Hug mommy" Then he wanted to hug Baby T as well. He is just precious.
Last Sunday we were walking through church and ran up to me and said "hold me" and slipped his hand through mine. Then at nap time, he wanted me to lay next to him and he took both hands and framed my face and planted a kiss on my lips.
He is pure sugar, ALOT of spice (the crazy 2 yr old tantrum kind) and alot of love. I'm so grateful for my little gift named A.

July 27, 2014 Growing Pains :-)
"A" is SUCH a good big brother. He is sweet to his baby sister. Oh my word, I am so blessed! I love to hear his voice change when he talks to her. He's super-protective. When I'm walking out the door, I will put her carseat down on the couch and go pick up my purse and bags and open the door. He will immediately start in about "baby, babee babee"; I think he thinks I am leaving her. When have I ever? Anyway it's SUPER cute but a bit bossy. :-) We have named him the family manager, since He likes to boss and manage the family. "Sit there." "Food." "Play." He likes to tell us what to do, where to do it and how to do it, but because he is so chatty, his verbal skills are developing quite nicely.
He has been learning how to play peek-a-boo with sister and he even tries to cover her eyes with his hand. Unfortunately, it ends up being a slap to her eyes but he is learning to be gentle and she doesn't seem to mind. She loves her big brother. She smiles at him and loves him.
The other day, daddy was tickling and playing with him and so when daddy came after him to tickle him, he immediately covered up his eyes, so "daddy couldn't see him". :-) It doesn't work that way of course but it was soooooo cute! I love to see my big boy grow up. Love being a mom. :-)

July 24, 2014 - Hide and Se-Scary Mommy
This story is actually about my husband, though "A" had a huge part to play in it. :-) Jer loves to play Hide and Seek with "A". He will yell "A's" name and then go hide. Well, I had heard him calling "A's" name but didn't think much about it. I went into my room and saw that I had not put my shirt away. So I picked it up, walked over to the closet to hang it up and opened the door. There in my closet was my husband crouching down ready to surprise my son.
My first thought was, "There is a man in my closet." My second thought was "THERE IS A MAN IN MY CLOSET. My heart dropped like a sink hole. Thus, I had a late reaction scream. AHHHHHHHH! When I realized it was husband a few seconds after my first thought, I started beating him with my shirt. :-)
He just laughed. "I didn't mean to scare you, honey." Well you did! Looking back, it was pretty funny, but don't tell him I said that :-) Those boys are going to give me a heart attack. :-)

We have a NEW baby and with that,
some different reactions from our little guy. At first Big Boy A was very apprehensive. Now he wants to be all involved. In, fact, he has gotten quite cuddly with us an wants to be right where Baby T is. I was teaching him how to shush the baby when she cries and so while watching a little Baby Einstein clip, he sat next to us and patted her on the head. He's been climbing all over her. (I think she's not a big fan of this. :-) ) and trying to "help her" find her food source every 5 seconds. It's a little exhausting but super sweet.
Last night, He grabbed my hand and hers and said "PRAY." He wanted us all to pray together. Oh, my word, IT WAS SO SWEET! So we all prayed together.
Later on, she started fussing. So tenderly, he reached over and started patting her head. "No, baby...PLEASE no baby, PLEASE NO!," He said. Precious moments!

We always let Baby A take a toy or a book to bed with him at night. It gives him something to do while he is drifting off to sleep. Well I was putting him Night-Nights and he was having a meltdown about going to bed. I tried to distract him by helping him choose a toy. What I didn't expect was that he would pick ME as the toy. "Mommy - down"... "Mommy, Mommy, Down" His choice was me. It was a such a sweet and adorable and a bit manipulative ploy.
May, we always have a close bond!

Like Mother, Like Son 5-7-14
I don't like bugs! Well, that's plain and simple and apparently I have passed that on to Baby A. Whenever we see a bug, I get the broom out of the closet and beat it to death. Ok, so now enter Avery...
I was sweeping the floor yesterday and Avery asked to help. "Momma, Sweep, Sweep?" I gave him the broom and started vacuuming the rugs. A little while later, I heard this horrible boom in his play room. I went to check on him and he had the broom up in the air like a bat, beating the glass door. There was a bug on the outside of the door and he was saying "Bug, Yuck Yuck...yuck yuck, Bug!" while trying to beat it to death. :-)

Swim Lessons - April 23
Avery is such a little chatter bug and one of the funny things he does is tries to talk you in or out of a situation. Well we started swim lessons with Mrs. Misty this week. This is a refresher course and I'm super proud of his progress already!
Avery on the other hand, does not like his swim lessons. He loves water, but he HATES to go under and well that's a BIG part of the lessons. The 1st day, he didn't want to get out of the car. Yesterday, daddy came and I think he thought that daddy would save him. Well, that didn't work either, SO, today, he walks into the pool area, walks up to the side of the pool and just starts crying and telling Mrs. Misty why he can't. "DohDoh, No, Dohdoh bye, ..." I couldn't even understand what all he was saying but he gave a great lecture about all the reasons he couldn't swim.
Then during the lesson, he tried to distract her. Misty would say Ready, Set and he would yell GO! (sobbing along while saying it.) It was the cutest thing. She also takes breaks in between swims and rubs their back which helps them to burp. So Avery would start crying "burp, bur, burr." Anything, but to get into that water. He also tried to give her a rub-rub (a back massage) at one point.
If I didn't see the necessity of his learning, he probably would have already won but his safety is more of a concern then a few tantrums. We love you Bubbies and are happy with your wonderful progress!

When Avers starts throwing a fit, I usually count down from three and if he doesn't stop, he will be corrected. We have also been counting on our hands, all of our fingers and he loves the number, 4. In fact, sometimes, he will even hold up our hands and say "four." He loves to count. :-)
The other day, he was throwing a fit and so I started correcting him, 3-2-1...He interrupted by holding up his little finger and yelling "4"! It was so cute, I had to giggle.

This week while Pa and Bebe and Great Nana were here, we were resting in the living room after a long fun day. We had just eaten supper and Daddy had been teaching Baby A to close his eyes while we prayed, by taking his 2 fingers and placing them over A's eyes.
So we are playing around on the couch and A all of sudden grabs my hand and places my fingers on his eyes. Then he waits a few seconds silently and say Amen! It was so precious.
May you truly understand the power of prayer, sweet boy.

My Nephew to his Mom: (Age 4)
Bruce, tonight at dinner: "GET ME SOME MORE MILK!"
Me: "Bruce Arthur, what in the world? We have manners!"
Bruce, smiling: "Mommy, that was imperative."
Me: "Oh! Umm, yes, you're right. Please say it in a more interrogative way?"
Bruce: " Please may I have some more milk? "
Phew. This kid keeps me on my toes every single day.

Ok, so I know I should not have laughed BUT when Avery walked out the back door of the church, the sun was bright and so he closed his eyes....AND kept walking, YEP! He walked right into the Modular Wall. It REALLY should have been on candid camera. He just kept walking and bang, right into the wall and fell over. It wasn't hard and I started giggling and then laughing and well he couldn't cry for long with mommy laughing the ways she was... he had to smile too! The people around must have thought that I got in a laughing spell at church cause I could NOT stop laughing. Poor bubbies, your mommy is mean but she loves you!
