August 17, 2014 - Sweet Boy

My sweet sweet boy. I just love this kid! So we are learning baby sign language and we were practicing different signs like play, daddy, mommy, ball and so on. When I got to hug, I said "can you sign hug" and instead he tackled me with a big hug and said "Hug mommy" Then he wanted to hug Baby T as well. He is just precious.

Last Sunday we were walking through church and ran up to me and said "hold me" and slipped his hand through mine. Then at nap time, he wanted me to lay next to him and he took both hands and framed my face and planted a kiss on my lips.

He is pure sugar, ALOT of spice (the crazy 2 yr old tantrum kind) and alot of love. I'm so grateful for my little gift named A.

July 27, 2014 Growing Pains :-)

"A" is SUCH a good big brother. He is sweet to his baby sister. Oh my word, I am so blessed! I love to hear his voice change when he talks to her. He's super-protective. When I'm walking out the door, I will put her carseat down on the couch and go pick up my purse and bags and open the door. He will immediately start in about "baby, babee babee"; I think he thinks I am leaving her. When have I ever? Anyway it's SUPER cute but a bit bossy. :-) We have named him the family manager, since He likes to boss and manage the family. "Sit there." "Food." "Play." He likes to tell us what to do, where to do it and how to do it, but because he is so chatty, his verbal skills are developing quite nicely.

He has been learning how to play peek-a-boo with sister and he even tries to cover her eyes with his hand. Unfortunately, it ends up being a slap to her eyes but he is learning to be gentle and she doesn't seem to mind. She loves her big brother. She smiles at him and loves him.

The other day, daddy was tickling and playing with him and so when daddy came after him to tickle him, he immediately covered up his eyes, so "daddy couldn't see him". :-) It doesn't work that way of course but it was soooooo cute! I love to see my big boy grow up. Love being a mom. :-)

July 24, 2014 - Hide and Se-Scary Mommy

This story is actually about my husband, though "A" had a huge part to play in it. :-) Jer loves to play Hide and Seek with "A". He will yell "A's" name and then go hide. Well, I had heard him calling "A's" name but didn't think much about it. I went into my room and saw that I had not put my shirt away. So I picked it up, walked over to the closet to hang it up and opened the door. There in my closet was my husband crouching down ready to surprise my son.

My first thought was, "There is a man in my closet." My second thought was "THERE IS A MAN IN MY CLOSET. My heart dropped like a sink hole. Thus, I had a late reaction scream. AHHHHHHHH! When I realized it was husband a few seconds after my first thought, I started beating him with my shirt. :-)

He just laughed. "I didn't mean to scare you, honey." Well you did! Looking back, it was pretty funny, but don't tell him I said that :-) Those boys are going to give me a heart attack. :-)

May 30, 2014

We have a NEW baby and with that,
some different reactions from our little guy. At first Big Boy A was very apprehensive. Now he wants to be all involved. In, fact, he has gotten quite cuddly with us an wants to be right where Baby T is. I was teaching him how to shush the baby when she cries and so while watching a little Baby Einstein clip, he sat next to us and patted her on the head. He's been climbing all over her. (I think she's not a big fan of this. :-) ) and trying to "help her" find her food source every 5 seconds. It's a little exhausting but super sweet.

Last night, He grabbed my hand and hers and said "PRAY." He wanted us all to pray together. Oh, my word, IT WAS SO SWEET! So we all prayed together.

Later on, she started fussing. So tenderly, he reached over and started patting her head. "No, baby...PLEASE no baby, PLEASE NO!," He said. Precious moments!

May 13, 2014

We always let Baby A take a toy or a book to bed with him at night. It gives him something to do while he is drifting off to sleep. Well I was putting him Night-Nights and he was having a meltdown about going to bed. I tried to distract him by helping him choose a toy. What I didn't expect was that he would pick ME as the toy. "Mommy - down"... "Mommy, Mommy, Down" His choice was me. It was a such a sweet and adorable and a bit manipulative ploy.

May, we always have a close bond!

Like Mother, Like Son 5-7-14

I don't like bugs! Well, that's plain and simple and apparently I have passed that on to Baby A. Whenever we see a bug, I get the broom out of the closet and beat it to death. Ok, so now enter Avery...

I was sweeping the floor yesterday and Avery asked to help. "Momma, Sweep, Sweep?" I gave him the broom and started vacuuming the rugs. A little while later, I heard this horrible boom in his play room. I went to check on him and he had the broom up in the air like a bat, beating the glass door. There was a bug on the outside of the door and he was saying "Bug, Yuck Yuck...yuck yuck, Bug!" while trying to beat it to death. :-)

Precious boy!

Swim Lessons - April 23

Avery is such a little chatter bug and one of the funny things he does is tries to talk you in or out of a situation. Well we started swim lessons with Mrs. Misty this week. This is a refresher course and I'm super proud of his progress already!

Avery on the other hand, does not like his swim lessons. He loves water, but he HATES to go under and well that's a BIG part of the lessons. The 1st day, he didn't want to get out of the car. Yesterday, daddy came and I think he thought that daddy would save him. Well, that didn't work either, SO, today, he walks into the pool area, walks up to the side of the pool and just starts crying and telling Mrs. Misty why he can't. "DohDoh, No, Dohdoh bye, ..." I couldn't even understand what all he was saying but he gave a great lecture about all the reasons he couldn't swim.

Then during the lesson, he tried to distract her. Misty would say Ready, Set and he would yell GO! (sobbing along while saying it.) It was the cutest thing. She also takes breaks in between swims and rubs their back which helps them to burp. So Avery would start crying "burp, bur, burr." Anything, but to get into that water. He also tried to give her a rub-rub (a back massage) at one point.

If I didn't see the necessity of his learning, he probably would have already won but his safety is more of a concern then a few tantrums. We love you Bubbies and are happy with your wonderful progress!
